Scott Michael Slone
Scott Michael Slone was born and raised in Alaska, the unique birthplace giving him an outsider’s perspective to most of the world’s problems. He also has a healthy appreciation and respect for nature. Having a moose steal your childhood swing-set tends to do that to you. This also gives his work a refreshing humor that appeals to everyone, regardless of if they own swing-sets or not.
Being connected to nature and the old ways of Alaskan mythology has guided his writing style, creating fantastical stories that combine the beauty of the natural world with the darkness that lies under every fallen leaf. Growing up in an oil town, he also knows the power of Man, and the constant struggle between industry and the forces of nature.
Slone's future writing goals largely focus on creating fantasy stories with main characters who grow in a believable and inspiring way, and on creating science fiction that is grand in scope but approachable and mind-opening. He enjoys enemies-to-friends-to-lovers, especially when that enemy is a snarky jerk with a heart of gold. When writing fantasy, he appreciates when the monster has claws and isn't afraid to use them, but the heroine finds just how to tame the beast. When writing science fiction, he's more than willing to throw a curveball at his readers, tossing them headfirst into exciting new ideas and watching them learn to swim.
His future aspirations are to publish fiction prose in the young adult demographic, with an intent to option for film, TV, and other media. The genres he feels most comfortable working in are fantasy both high and low, science fiction at a cosmic scale, and historical fiction with a fantastical bent.
